Infectious disease dashboard

GC Labs has developed ‘Epi-wave’, a dashboard that provides an at-a-glance overview of the prevalence of respiratory infections, influenza and gastrointestinal infections. Based on results of PCR tests conducted by GC Labs over the past three years, this dashboard provides weekly positivity rates and epidemic curves for 12 respiratory infections (10 acute respiratory viruses and 2 bacterial infections) and 5 gastrointestinal infections.

It is also designed to allow for a visual comparison of positivity rates over the past three years, helping to identify and predict this year’s epidemic trends.

Respiratory and Gastrointestinal Infections Dashboard

  • When you click on a specific year for a particular infectious disease, the positivity rates by gender and age group, as well as the positivity rates by province for that year, are displayed in graphical and map formats respectively.
  • Selecting a specific province displays the annual positivity rates for each infectious disease in that province, enabling you to identify variations in disease prevalence within the province.
  • The epidemic curves for specific infections illustrate weekly positivity rates over the past three years. Hovering the cursor over the graph displays the number of tests conducted in that week and the corresponding positivity rates across the three-year period, enabling year-over-year comparisons of the epidemic situation.

Influenza Surveillance Dashboard

  • This interface is designed to display, on a single screen, the epidemic curves by influenza type (top), the epidemic curves by age group (middle), and a map showing regional positivity rates (bottom).
  • Selecting a season on the bottom-left map and moving the slider allows you to track temporal variations in positivity rates across regions.

This dashboard was developed with support from ‘The Government-wide R&D to Advance Infectious Disease Prevention and Control’, Republic of Korea. It is expected to facilitate rapid decision-making in clinical settings and strengthen community response capabilities.
